Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe is a Roman Catholic church and National Shrine of Mexico City. It was built near the city of Tepeyac where it is believed our Lady of Guadalupe (Virgin Mary) appeared to Saint Juan Diego and asked there be a church made for her honor. To prove to the village that the Lady of Guadalupe did in fact speak to him, Juan Diego presented the village with his peasant cloak or tilma, which miraculously featured the image of our Lady of Guadalupe. The tilma is currently displayed in the Basilica, and the Basilica can accommodate up to 50,000 people
