Known for manatees and warm waters, this seven-mile long Central Florida river connects King's Bay to the Gulf of Mexico and is fed by 30 natural springs. Crystal River is popular with tourists who can swim along side its many manatees. The 61-acre Crystal River State Archaeological Site, or Crystal River Indian Mounds, is a U.S. National Historic Site located along the river within the larger 30,000-acre Crystal River Preserve State Park. Crystal River also is the name of a city along the waterway.
