Situated in the middle of the most vast Ponderosa Pine forest in the world, the Northern Arizona city with an elevation of 7,000 feet draws many hikers, climbers, campers and bicyclists. Flagstaff was founded in 1882 and is in close proximity to such natural wonders as The Grand Canyon, Oak Creek Canyon, Meteor Crater, Sunset Crater, Walnut Canyon, Wupatki National Monument and San Francisco Peaks. The city also is the highest summit on the historic Route 66.
