Dotted with glacier valleys, Lake Nahuel Huapi is a spectacular glacier lake that wraps throughout Nahuel Huapi National Park. Stretching out for 205 sq mi (530 km2), the lake is perfect for exploring northern Patagonia. Despite being an inland lake, it is home to a kelp gull and marine birds, which are normally only found near the ocean. Travelers can join scenic cruises across the lake or rent a kayak to head out into the wild national park. Though it predates the first sighting of Nessie in Loch Ness, Nahuel Huapi hosts its own legendary sea monster known as Nahuelito.
