See the city that is inextricably linked to Germany’s dark past. Nuremberg played host to the massive annual Nazi party rallies as Hitler saw it as the most German of German cities, but was also the site of the war crimes tribunal, aka the Nuremberg Trials, after the fall of the Third Reich. However, Nuremberg also has a more illustrious past and for centuries was the undeclared capital of the Holy Roman Empire and home to many German kings. Today’s Nuremberg, the second-largest city in Bavaria, is famous for its beer and Germany’s largest Christmas market.
